In 2010, the regulatory structure of the municipal market underwent a historic change with the enactment of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. The law was the most significant piece of financial reform legislation to affect the municipal market since 1986. The Dodd-Frank Act provides for regulation of previously unregulated market intermediaries that advise state and local governments and other issuers of municipal securities. Congress designated the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) as the regulatory authority to carry out this expanded market oversight. The provisions of the MSRB became effective October 1, 2010.

The MSRB Rulemaking Program maintains municipal market rules designed to protect investors and municipal entities, and to support a fair and efficient market. Western Solutions Inc. is registered with the MSRB and adheres to all guidelines set forth by the MSRB Rulemaking Board.
